Funding rate alerts, tuned to who's paying whom.

Every perpetual future settles a funding payment between longs and shorts. CoinBeacon watches that rate on 8 futures venues and alerts you four ways — a level crossed, a 2–5× spike, a cross-exchange spread, or a scheduled check-in — by email, Telegram, Discord, or webhook.

Four ways to watch the funding rate

A perpetual future never expires — instead, longs and shorts settle a funding payment at fixed intervals. When one side crowds the trade, the rate climbs; when sentiment turns, it crosses zero. Each of those moments is a condition you can set an alert on.

01

Threshold

Fires the moment funding on your venue crosses the level you set, in the direction you choose. Set it at 0% to catch the flip — the settlement where longs stop earning and start paying.

any level · above or below · 0% = the flip

02

Spike

Watches speed instead of level: funding moving 2–5× within 10 minutes to 4 hours. Pick the direction that matters — longs crowding in, shorts piling on, or either side cooling off.

2–5× multiplier · 10m–4h window · direction-aware

03

Spread (cross-exchange)

Compares one coin's funding across all 8 venues and fires when the gap between the highest and lowest rate clears your APR threshold — the raw material of a funding-arbitrage trade. Point it at one coin, or at any coin in the market.

04

Periodic

No condition at all — a scheduled reading of the funding rate on the pairs you hold, at the interval you choose. Useful while carrying a position across settlements.

Threshold, Flip, or Periodic?

Threshold watches for a level, Flip catches sign changes, Periodic delivers on a schedule.

The builder the app opens, field for field. The values above are an example of what you would choose — nothing on this card is a market reading.

Four fields, one settlement cycle

How to set a funding rate alert before the next settlement.

  1. 01Pick the perpetual and the venueName the pair you actually trade — BTCUSDT, or any perp on the eight futures venues CoinBeacon tracks. The builder shows the current funding rate and the countdown to the next settlement while you work, so you set the number against a live reading rather than a guess.
  2. 02Choose one of the four modesThreshold for a level crossed, spike for a sudden 2–5× move, spread for the gap between venues, or periodic for a scheduled reading with no trigger at all. Each mode asks for a different number, and only that number.
  3. 03Set the number and the channelA rate like +0.05% for a threshold — or 0% to catch the flip. A multiplier and a window from 10 minutes to 4 hours for a spike. An APR gap for a spread. Then pick where it lands: email, Telegram, Discord, or a JSON webhook.
  4. 04Set the cooldown and saveThe cooldown stops one settlement from generating duplicate notifications. Leave the one-shot box unchecked and the alert keeps watching every settlement from CoinBeacon's servers — no exchange screen open, no funding board to refresh.

What traders point them at

Crowded longs, funding arbitrage, and the flip nobody watched for.

Catch the funding flip on a perpetual

The settlement where funding crosses zero is the one that changes who pays whom. Set a threshold at 0% and you hear about the sign change instead of noticing it two settlements later. The funding rate scanner shows the same eight venues on one board if you'd rather read it yourself.

Funding arbitrage between exchanges

The same perp rarely funds at the same rate everywhere. A spread alert compares all eight venues and fires when the gap clears your APR threshold — the raw material of a funding-arb trade. Route it to a JSON webhook if the gap needs to reach your own tooling rather than your inbox.

Spot crowded positioning before it unwinds

Funding climbing hard in one direction means one side is crowded and paying for it. A spike alert flags the crowding as it builds; pairing it with liquidation alerts tells you when that positioning actually gets flushed. Neither is a forecast — they are two readings of the same book.

Carry a position across settlements

Holding a perp for days means paying or collecting funding every few hours. Periodic mode sends the rate on your pairs at an interval you choose, with no condition attached — the funding-rate counterpart to scheduled price updates. Use it to know the cost of the carry before it surprises you.

Funding rate alerts — common questions

Which exchanges do funding rate alerts cover?
Threshold, spike, and periodic alerts each watch one venue you pick, while spread compares a coin's funding across every venue at once. It is the same eight perpetual-futures venues the funding rate scanner tracks, so anything you can screen there you can attach an alert to.
Can I get an alert when funding flips negative?
Yes. Set a threshold alert at 0% and it fires on the settlement where funding crosses the line — the moment longs stop earning and start paying. A per-alert cooldown keeps one flip from triggering repeat notifications.
How is a funding spike alert different from a threshold alert?
A threshold alert watches an absolute level, like +0.05%. A spike alert watches speed: it fires when funding moves 2–5× within a window you set, from 10 minutes to 4 hours — in either direction, or only when longs or shorts are crowding in.
Can I get alerted to a funding spread between exchanges?
Yes — that is what the spread mode does. It compares one coin's funding across all eight venues and fires when the gap between the highest and lowest rate clears the APR threshold you set. Point it at a single perp you already trade, or run it in any-coin mode so the widest gap in the market names itself.
How often will a funding rate alert notify me?
That is up to the cooldown you set — it exists to stop duplicate notifications inside a single settlement, and most venues settle roughly every eight hours. You can also tick 'disable after first trigger' for a one-off, or leave it unchecked so the alert keeps watching every settlement.
Can I get the funding rate on a schedule instead of a trigger?
Yes. Periodic mode has no condition at all — it just reads the funding rate on the pairs you name, at the interval you choose. It is the mode to use while carrying a position across settlements, when you want the number in front of you rather than a surprise.
Are funding rate alerts free?
Yes. Funding rate alerts are one of CoinBeacon's 19 alert types and every type is on the free plan: 5 active alerts, 10 notifications a day, all four delivery channels. No credit card, and no exchange API keys to connect.
Where do funding rate alerts get delivered?
To any of CoinBeacon's four channels — email, Telegram, Discord, or a JSON webhook into your own tooling. The watching happens on CoinBeacon's servers around the clock, so nothing needs to stay open on your side. There are no SMS or phone-call notifications.

Set your first alert in under a minute.
