CoinBeaconLive data

Where the volume is, before the price says so.

Coins trading far above their own normal volume over the last 15 minutes, with the buy/sell taker split. Every coin is measured against its own baseline, so a microcap waking up ranks beside a major. No account needed.

Unusual volume right now

Ranked by how far each coin’s volume exceeds its own normal for a 15-minute span — not by raw size, so this is not simply a list of the biggest markets. Normal is that coin’s average per-minute volume over the two hours of closed candles before the window, so the comparison is always self-referential. The taker column shows which side was doing the buying.

The same board, in the app

This page is a 15-minute snapshot of the top rows. The live board is open to guests too, and it does more with the same numbers.

Every row gets a read
The board combines the volume multiple, the price move over the same window and the taker split into one tag: Breakout, Breakdown, Buy wall, Sell wall, Absorption or a buy/sell divergence — so you are not doing the three-way comparison in your head on 50 rows.
A pulse across all the surges
Above the table: how many coins running 2× normal or more are led by aggressive buyers versus sellers, the total dollar volume trading abnormally right now, the hottest multiple on the board and the largest surge by real money.
Filters that kill microcap noise
A minimum window volume of $50K, $250K or $1M, plus minimum market-cap and 24-hour-volume floors. Sort by multiple, by dollar volume or by price move. Signed in, you can scope the whole board to one of your watchlists.
Top Surges or All Markets
The leaderboard view ranks the top 50. The All Markets view lists every scanned symbol with search and paging, for when you want to check one specific coin rather than see what is loudest.
Open a row for the context
A price and volume chart over the window, the dollar and token volume, the price change, the taker buy share, 24-hour change, and 8-hour funding when you are on futures — enough to tell a fresh move from one that is already extended.
Windows, venues, and one click out
Switch between 1m, 5m, 15m, 30m and 1h windows and between Binance spot and futures; the data refreshes every 30 seconds. From any row, jump to the full chart, compare that coin's price across exchanges, or set an alert on it.

If you would rather read volume next to everything else moving, the markets overview puts volume surges on one screen with the 5-minute top movers, funding extremes and the last 24 hours of liquidations.

Volume moves first. So should you.

A surge is only useful while it is happening. Set a volume alert on one coin, or scan every symbol on a venue at once, and CoinBeacon messages you when a closed candle trades at or above the multiple of its 20-candle average volume you chose — on timeframes down to a single minute.

How to read this board

01

× Normal, not raw volume

Ranking by raw volume just lists the biggest coins every time. Comparing each coin to its own baseline surfaces the ones doing something unusual — which is the actual signal.

02

The taker split is the story

Ten times normal volume that is 90% sell-side is capitulation. The same volume 90% buy-side is accumulation. Volume without direction only tells you something happened, not what.

03

Volume leads, price follows

A price move that already happened is on the gainers board. An unusual volume surge often precedes the move, or confirms a breakout that would otherwise be a fake-out. Read this alongside the price movers, not instead of them — the live pump and dump tape applies the same logic per event, marking a move volume-confirmed only when relative volume backs it.

04

Three columns, one conclusion

None of these numbers means much alone. A big multiple with a flat price and one-sided aggression is supply or demand being absorbed at a level, not a breakout. A modest multiple with a sharp move and a lopsided taker split is the cleaner trade. The in-app board labels that conclusion on every row so you do not have to hold three columns in your head.

Questions

What are crypto volume movers?
Volume movers are coins trading far more than they normally do over a short window. Unlike a gainers list, which ranks by price, this ranks by how unusual the trading activity is — which often flags a move while the price is still catching up.
What does the × Normal column mean?
It is how many times the coin's volume over the last 15 minutes exceeds its own normal volume for a span that long. Normal is the coin's average per-minute volume over the two hours of closed 1-minute candles immediately before the window, scaled up to the window length. A reading of 5× means five times its usual activity. As a rough scale, 2× or more is unusual and 5× or more is a genuine spike. Because every coin is compared to itself, a microcap waking up ranks alongside a major — which a raw volume list would never show.
What is the taker flow — buy or sell?
It is which side was the aggressor. “Buy” means market buyers were lifting the ask; “Sell” means market sellers were hitting the bid. “Mixed” is a near 50/50 split. This is order aggression, not whether the candle closed green — heavy volume that is 90% sell-side tells a very different story from the same volume that is 90% buy-side.
What does an “absorption” or “sell wall” reading mean?
Those are the labels the in-app board puts on each row after combining the three things it already knows: the volume multiple, the price move over the same window, and the taker split. Rising price on aggressive buying is a breakout; falling price on aggressive selling is a breakdown. Aggressive buying with price stuck is a sell wall — resting supply is absorbing the bids. Aggressive selling with price holding is a buy wall. Heavy two-way volume that goes nowhere is absorption. Buying into a falling price, or selling into a rising one, is flagged as a divergence.
Which market does this cover?
The board ranks Binance USDⓈ-M perpetual futures, which have the deepest liquidity. In the app you can switch between Binance spot and futures, and change the window between 1, 5, 15, 30 and 60 minutes. This board is built from closed Binance candles, so it does not span the wider exchange list the price and funding boards cover.
How do I filter out microcap volume spikes?
Most of the largest multiples belong to thin markets where a single order is ten times normal. The in-app board has a minimum window-volume filter — $50K, $250K or $1M of real money traded — plus minimum market-cap and 24-hour-volume floors, so only surges you could actually trade remain. The board also drops markets whose baseline volume is below a liquidity floor before ranking anything.
Why does volume matter more than price?
Price tells you what already happened; volume often tells you it is happening. A breakout on ordinary volume frequently fails, while an unusual volume surge — especially one-sided — marks real participation. Traders use it to separate a genuine move from noise.
Can I get alerted on a volume spike?
Yes. Rather than watching this board, set a volume alert: pick a Binance spot or futures market, a timeframe from 1m to 4h and a multiplier of at least 2×, and CoinBeacon messages you on Telegram, Discord, email or a webhook when a closed candle trades that multiple of its 20-candle average volume. You can point it at one coin or run it as a scan across every symbol on the venue, and a cooldown you set keeps it from repeating. The free plan covers 5 active alerts and 10 notifications a day.
